What is Thirsty Wagon?
The Thirsty Wagon™ is Cape Town’s only mobile bar with an integrated food
truck service, all in one vintage 1975 VW Jurgens Autovilla Kombi called
‘Skilpad’ – one of only 1,000 ever built in South Africa.
We bring professional bar service, live-fire cooking, and eco-conscious
service directly to your event in our self-driving vintage beauty. From
intimate celebrations to large festivals, we serve thoughtfully curated
drinks and food experiences throughout the Western Cape. We also create
delicious baked goods, custom cakes, and platters for delivery.

We cater for all types of celebrations and gatherings:
From intimate gatherings of 20 guests to large festivals of 1,000+, we
tailor our service to your event size and style. Whether you need mobile
bar service, food truck catering only, or the complete experience with
both – we’ve got you covered!
Do you offer customised packages?
Yes! Customisation is at the heart of what we do. Every event is unique,
and we tailor our service to match your vision and budget.
We work with you to create the perfect package – from simple celebrations
to spectacular events. Quality service accessible to all budgets – that’s
our commitment!
How far do you travel?
We serve events throughout the Western Cape.
PRIMARY SERVICE AREA:
Somerset West + 90km radius
- First 15km from Somerset West: Travel included in pricing
- 15–90km range: Standard travel fees apply (based on distance)
EXTENDED SERVICE:
- Beyond 90km: Extended Western Cape travel available with advance notice
- Interprovincial bookings: Available via flatbed transport for special
events (advance planning required)
Do you provide staff and equipment?
Absolutely! We provide COMPLETE full-service – you don’t need to worry
about anything. This is one of our core values: Professional Full-Service
Excellence. We handle everything from start to finish so you can relax and
enjoy your event stress-free. That’s the Thirsty Wagon promise!
How far in advance should we book?
We recommend booking at least 48 hours in advance. Weddings and peak season dates should be secured earlier.
A NOTE ABOUT SKILPAD:
She’s a classic 1975 beauty who takes her time on the road – we can’t rush vintage charm! For longer distances, we plan accordingly to ensure she arrives relaxed, ready, and in perfect condition to serve your guests.

impact — keeping large volumes of glass and plastic out of landfill.
BEYOND JUST KEGS:
We also partner with Diamond Carriage Travels (our sister company) to
support guests getting home safely, helping reduce drink-driving incidents.
